Employee Discounts rated as a favourite benefit in research for Employee Benefits Magazine
New research by TNS for Employee Benefits Magazine has shown staff discounts to be one of the most popular parts of an employee benefits and compensation package.
21% of employees surveyed by TNS rated staff discounts as their favourite employee benefit. The only benefits more popular amongst staff that received them were; pensions, flexible working, extra holiday and company cars – all vastly more expensive than a typical staff discount scheme, which costs just a few pounds per head.
Staff discounts rated more popular than private medical insurance (favourite with 19% of respondents), employee share schemes (favourite with 13%) and season ticket loans (favourite with just 7%). Income protection insurance, personal accident insurance and critical illness care were bottom of the favourites league with just 3%, 2% and 0% of employees respectively.
TNS surveyed a representative sample of 784 employees aged 16 years and over at home. Workers from all sectors and sizes of organisations were involved. Fieldwork was conducted between 30th August and 3rd September 2006.
