Heinz switches to Asperity to increase employee engagement

Heinz has switched its voluntary benefits provider from P&MM to Asperity Employee Benefits to improve employee engagement amongst its 3,000 employees in UK and Ireland.

The food manufacturer has introduced a new company-branded website, based on Asperity’s Reward Gateway platform, through which staff can easily access the perks, which includes shopping discounts at over 1500 retailers.

Ken Horrocks, Reward Manager for UK and Ireland, said Heinz’s previous voluntary scheme was predominantly voucher-based, but its new scheme would include a cashback facility, online discounts and reloadable electronic cards that could be used at major supermarkets, including Sainsbury’s and ASDA.

“We had 35% of our workforce use the previous scheme in the past eight months, but we are hoping we can beat that going forward,” he said. “We have listened to staff and come up with a better offering with more deals in line with what they were asking for.”

The revamped voluntary benefits package is being launched ahead of Heinz’s new flex scheme. The flex scheme is set to go live in April 2010, in line with the firm’s new financial year. It will be called The Complete Package.
