Kent County Council wins Employee Benefits gong
Kent County Council picked up the award for ‘Most effective benefits strategy in a public sector organisation’ at this year’s Employee Benefits Awards.
The Council’s employee benefits scheme, Kent Rewards, was applauded by the judges for offering a ‘wide-ranging benefits package’ with a website that is ‘easy to navigate’ – which was seen as particularly important for a workforce who were not all computer literate.
Glenn Elliott of Asperity Employee Benefits, who provide the Kent Rewards integrated benefits platform, said: “We’re delighted that Kent County Council has won such a prestigious award at the Employee Benefits Awards this year. The organisation is no stranger to HR awards; and deservedly so, because the rewards team at Kent works extremely hard to give their staff a fantastic benefits package.”
Kent County Council’s reward strategy has been so successful in recent years that the employer feels able to compete with the private sector for staff.
Kent’s Reward Manager, Colin Miller, went on to pick up another gong at this year’s Employee Benefits Awards – the esteemed ‘Compensation and benefits professional of the year’. Overcoming the tough competition from Sara Davies of Ladbrokes plc, and Kevin O’Boyle of BT, Colin was commended for his various achievements at the Council since 2002, particularly his focus on equal pay and employee engagement.
