Childcare Vouchers
Second generation, integrated childcare vouchers.
Childcare vouchers under a salary sacrifice arrangement enable employees to pay for childcare with a registered provider out of their gross salary. The potential savings for employees are significant. Employees who spend £50 a week on registered childcare and are basic rate taxpayers can make a real difference to their take-home pay. Higher rate taxpayers can save up to £1995 a year.
Many employers offer childcare vouchers to their staff (research suggests the figure is around 60%), but still lots of employees are missing out. A combination of poor employee communications and difficult signup processes, along with inaccessible language means that a lot of employees who could benefit don't, and engagement is disappointing for many employers.
At Asperity, we’ve spent a lot of time working on how to improve awareness of CCVs, and then encourage the relevant employees to register and benefit. We believe that Asperity’s new, second generation Childcare Voucher scheme is as user-friendly for employers and employees as a scheme can get.
Security & Financial Probity
Two hygiene factors that you'll want to insist on when choosing a provider are data security and ring-fencing of funds. This might sound obvious, but it's important to ensure that these essential safeguards are not overlooked.
- Data Security & Privacy
This is fundamental and non-negotiable. There can’t be many areas where security of information is more important – it just doesn’t come any more sensitive than this. We're not just talking about the banking details of nurseries, we're talking about names and addresses of your staff, names, addresses and dates of birth of their children (minors under the Data Protection Act which creates specific considerations) and the addresses of where those minors are sent for childcare.
Our aim for data security is always to exceed best practice and set our own higher standard. If you only do one thing now make sure your current scheme, if you have one, meets the highest standards of data security and privacy protection. You can find information on our systems, processes and procedure in our Security & Privacy section.
- Ring-fencing of voucher funds
Every month you will be paying money to your childcare voucher provider on behalf of staff and you'll want to know that the provider keeps these funds separate from their normal trading funds in a ring-fenced bank account. This ensures that the voucher funds being held for your employees are safe and won't be spent by the provider on running their business.
Once you are satisfied with the ‘housekeeping’, two things are key to getting eligible employees on board with CCVs – they need to know about how much they can save and they need to be able to register as easily as possible.
We’ve addressed these by providing a fully integrated voluntary benefits platform - Asperity’s second generation Childcare Voucher system is integrated with Reward Gateway’s discounts and Cashback scheme and gives your employees the benefit of an easy, single login to one website for all their voluntary benefits. For you as an employer, we offer an integrated communications plan to staff and a single account manager for both services.
Seamless for employee and employer.
